Conserving tropical rainforests
Join us for a personal message from Steve Backshall where he tells us why he’s optimistic about our natural world and how he is helping the World Land Trust conserve tropical rainforests. We’ll then journey over to Brazil where Michael Palin will share a remarkable story of how a rainforest there is making a comeback and allowing the wildlife to return. The forest is not only providing valuable habitat for its remarkable plants and animals, but it is supporting the livelihoods of those who live there. The video showcases the work of Brazil’s Reserva Ecológica de Guapiaçu through support from the World Land Trust.

Steve Backshall
Steve Backshall has been passionate about the wild world ever since he could crawl. He is an adventurer, presenter, author, wildlife enthusiast and all-round daredevil.
Steve is a multi-BAFTA-winning television presenter and his shows, such as Deadly 60 and Fierce, often focus on some of the planet’s dangerous wildlife from across the globe. His passion for the natural world is apparent in all that he does and this has allowed him to become an influential voice for nature, advocating conservation through his wide network.
Off-screen he enjoys rock climbing, mountaineering and participating in adventure races and endurance sports. Steve doesn’t just do his hobbies for fun however. He takes the opportunity to raise money for charity at the same time. For example he has twice completed the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race, which is a 24 hour endurance kayaking event, raising over £200,000 for the World Land Trust, of which he is a patron.
