Rio Heriniaina is a conservationist from Madagascar, with a background in education, forestry and primatology.
Rio is currently a Chevening scholar, and is undertaking a Masters focusing on Primate Biology and Conservation at the University of Roehampton, London. He is the President of the non-governmental organisation Vision for Nature Conservation for Madagascar.
Conservation education in Madagascar
Education is important for the sustainable conservation of Madagascar’s unique biodiversity. However, few Malagasy have access to education, with the consequence that conservation work becomes more challenging. During this talk, Rio will highlight how the NGO Vision for Nature Conservation for Madagascar tackles this issue and how it helps Malagasy community and teenagers to be aware of the value and the importance of wildlife conservation in Madagascar.
