The Wallasea Island Wild Coast Project
The talk will give an overview of the Wallasea Island Wild Coast Project, a truly inspiring conservation and engineering scheme where construction waste is put to beneficial re-use in creating Europe’s largest artificial wetland. In this talk Paul will explain why the project is so vital in providing precious mudflat and saltmarsh habitat on the Essex coastline and will describe how tunnelling spoil from Crossrail, one of Europe’s largest construction projects, was used to deliver this landmark scheme.
