Hana

Hana is 15 years old and from Sheffield. Since participating in Action for Conservation’s residential camp in 2018 she has become an avid environmental advocate and youth spokesperson. She helps organise the youth climate strikes in Sheffield and is part of an environmental group at her school. Last year, she authored an article to educate parents on how they can best support the school strikes and spoke on the Meet the Changemakers of Today panel at the Conservation Optimism conference in Oxford. She represented the Youth Leadership Group at the Penpont Partner Summit panel discussion in September and sits on the communications and outreach subcommittees for the project.

Her reason for optimism: "I believe in environmental optimism because of the progress that's been made. it's easy to get hung up on negatives but if you look back, at how the climate strike movement has spread like a plague, how more and more environmentally friendly options for consumerism pop up, and how many individuals have changed too, it's empowering."
